I am very proud to introduce myself as Executive Head for Highfield Littleport Academy and Highfield Ely Academy. Both of the Highfield Academies are area special schools. This means they have a catchment area (much the same as mainstream secondary school), and have on roll pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs. All our pupils and students have Education, Health and Care Plans, or Statements of Special Educational Needs and need a moderately or heavily adapted curriculum to suit their individual needs.

Highfield Littleport will start small and grow over time, with a suggested maximum roll of around 110. This is an incredibly exciting venture, not least because the school lends itself perfectly to work very closely with Littleport and East Cambs Academy for our secondary age pupils. Highfield Ely is also just under 6 miles away, which means there will be many opportunities to share resources, teaching and curriculum opportunities.

The Active Learning Trust is very keen to work closely with the local community. To start this we had a site visit recently with members of the Littleport Parish Council and other interested parties such as GPs, PCSOs and Health workers. This was a really good start to our new schools being a central resource to the local community, and we aim to set another visit up for a similar group as the new schools move towards being ready for their pupils.

I would be more than happy for anybody wanting to know more about the work we do at Highfield Ely, and will be doing at Highfield Littleport, to get in touch.
